Efemérides: 124° aniversario del nacimiento de Carlos Vega
On this day in Cañuelas, Buenos Aires Province, the Argentine musicologist, composer, and poet Carlos Vega (1898-1966), considered the father of Argentine musicology, was born. In 1930, he began a project to document Argentine folklore, and in 1931, he founded the Indigenous Musicology Department at the Museum of Natural Sciences. It is in honor of Vega's enormous work of compilation that the National Institute of Musicology was created, where research related to the scientific study of music and its history in our country is carried out. On his birthday, we remember his essential legacy for Argentine music.
