On February 9th, 2016, four hikers disappeared near Paradise Ridge in Mount Rainier National Park. Their names were Caleb Morris, age twenty-six, his younger sister Emily Morris, age twenty-three, and their friends Brandon Keller and Luke Harrow, both twenty-seven. According to the official report, the group was caught in a sudden whiteout while attempting to return from an overnight winter hike. Their last known message was sent at 4:18 p.m. from a location roughly three miles above the tree line. It read: “Trail gone.
