UN METIER D'ART POUR MOI - TAILLEUR DE PIERRE

The main activities of a stonemason are: marking out, cutting, shaping, laying, finishing, and stereometry (geometry) according to precise standards. The stonemason is involved in all phases of the work: from quarrying the stone to installation. Based on drawings provided by the architect, the stonemason shapes the stone until it reaches the desired form. Depending on the commission, they create paving, railings, cornices, staircases, or fireplaces. They polish or varnish their work before delivering it to the client or installing it on a construction site. They can specialize in marble work, including funerary stonemasonry (making and maintaining headstones). They can also choose engraving and create bas-reliefs. Or they can dedicate themselves to the restoration of historical monuments.
