Nick's story | Living with kidney disease | Kidney Care UK

Two years ago, Nick lost both of his kidneys. While he now travels to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske for haemodialysis three times a week, he still has a positive outlook on life with kidney failure. We chatted with Nick at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske. It came as a shock when Nick was told that he only had 5% of his kidney function left and after a trip to Bristol Hospital he lost them. He loved crabbing and fishing, but since his diagnosis he has struggled to do either. Now at 68 years old, Nick travels to the kidney unit for haemodialysis three times a week. He has settled in a comfortable routine, and while kidney failure and haemodialysis does take its toll, Nick refuses to let kidney disease stop him.
