July 19th. A remarkable day on the Minho Line Today was marked by two historic debuts on the Minho Line. Locomotive 5602 made its debut in service on the InterRegional 855 after the CP 2600 broke down in Porto Campanhã. At the same time, the emblematic locomotives of the 2600 series debuted hauling Celta trains and some Regional services. This change came following the transfer of the CP 2240 series diesel locomotives to the Algarve Line, after the completion of the electrification of that line between Vila Real Santo Antônio and Lagos. With the reorganization of the fleet, it became possible to use the 2600s to guarantee these services, providing railway enthusiasts with a rare opportunity to see these locomotives in regular circulation again on passenger trains.
