Des nouvelles de l'intime et du monde, avec Alice Renard et Éliette Abécassis

The two guests welcomed by Claire Chazal to the set of "Au bonheur, des livres" don't exactly belong to the same generation, but they share a common talent for a genre that is perhaps a little too underrepresented in France: the short story. Éliette Abécassis, known for her numerous bestsellers, has published a charming collection of twenty-two variations on the theme of heartbreak, which gives its title to the whole: "Ruptures" (Breakups), published by Grasset. Alice Renard, for her part, who burst onto the scene in 2024 with her highly acclaimed debut novel, "La Colère et l'Envie" (Anger and Desire), proposes in the nine stories of "Peaux Vives" (Living Skins) (published by Héloïse d'Ormesson) to "shed her skin," each time adopting the voice of a different character: her collection is a beautiful narrative exercise on identity, which won the 2026 Goncourt Prize for short stories. These are two brilliant women, certainly, and we are curious to hear them talk with Claire Chazal about their art and their situation.
