Moonshine to Main Street: 10 Years of Tennessee Hills Distillery | Founder Stephen Callahan

Stephen Callahan's family made whiskey in the hills of East Tennessee for 11 generations. Most of them couldn't do it legally. Ten years ago, he took the craft his family kept hidden and put it in the open, inside a 180-year-old Salt House in Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee. In this short retrospective, Stephen looks back on a decade of Tennessee Hills Distillery: learning to distill at 11 in his dad's barn on the Nolichucky, running a still out of his dorm closet at Emory & Henry, leaving a chemist job at Eastman to build the region's craft whiskey brand, and growing from one historic building to locations in Jonesborough, Johnson City, and Bristol. He also shares what's coming next: one of the most automated distilleries in the country, the northeast trailhead of the Tennessee Whiskey Trail.
