CHARIOTS OF KADESH tells the story of one of the greatest battles of the ancient world. In 1274 BC, Pharaoh Ramesses II led the armies of Egypt against the mighty Hittite Empire near the fortress of Kadesh. Misled by enemy spies, the Egyptians marched into an ambush as thousands of Hittite chariots crashed into their camp. Amid the chaos, Ramesses rallied his warriors and launched a desperate counterattack that turned disaster into legend. Although neither side achieved a decisive victory, the battle became famous for another reason. Years later, Egypt and the Hittites signed what is widely regarded as the world's earliest known international peace treaty.
