Mahfud revealed this in Kompas.com's Gaspol podcast, broadcast on Monday (June 29, 2026). At that time, Mahfud responded to indications that those close to Prabowo were waging political war behind legal cases. "I actually like it when two politicians quarrel. Those close to Mr. Prabowo are enemies and then expose each other's corruption. That's good. As for me, I'd just expose them. One exposes one expose, so they'll be destroyed. Devil meets devil," Mahfud said. Mahfud believes this is better than protecting each other's crimes. He believes that internal rivalries within the government, even if based on political interests, can be a positive momentum for law enforcement as long as the cases are truly processed fairly in court. Mahfud also touched on the "silent brown code" phenomenon in the police force, where officers often protect colleagues or superiors involved in misconduct.
