Twenty-seven American soldiers and 150 Montagnard tribesmen are trapped on a tiny dirt hilltop, completely surrounded by 6,000 North Vietnamese Army soldiers. Cut off from reinforcements and stripped of their water supply, it looked like a massacre waiting to happen. But the NVA had just made a fatal miscalculation.
