In a recent trip we left our home in the Cotswolds to spend a week exploring this beautiful canal and surrounding landscape on the Welsh/ English border. If you love Britain's countryside and history I hope this different video from the norm is for you and that you will enjoy cruising with us. Known as the 'Mon-Brec' this delightful canal follows the line of the Usk Valley through the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. We start our trip by picking up our boat 'The Red Collared Swallow' at Goytre Wharf close to Abergavenny and cruise slowly north to the historic town of Brecon before returning to Goytre a week later. Along the way we will pass many pretty villages , some with great pubs which we will pop into and enjoy panoramic views across the Usk Valley to Sugar Loaf mountain and the Beacons themselves. In our first vlog after picking up the narrowboat we cruise for around 3 hours in lovely Autumn sunshine and moor up in a pretty spot just south of Llanfoist.
