¿Cómo nacen los pollitos? (Virtual)

Understanding chick development helps us better understand the requirements for healthy growth and identify the most crucial incubation phases. In this video, we'll discuss chick development throughout the 21-day incubation period. However, incubation and development times vary depending on the species. For example, 27-28 days for ducks, turkeys, and guinea fowl; 29-30 days for geese; and 31-32 days for mule ducks. Egg fertilization begins when the rooster mounts the hen. Through arousal, the rooster's sperm is transferred to the hen, initiating fertilization of the egg so that new chicks can hatch. It's important to note that the hen doesn't need a rooster to form and lay an egg; however, a rooster is necessary when you want to raise chicks on your farm. Once the egg is fertilized, the embryo's development, known technically as embryogenesis, begins and lasts for 5 days, after which the embryo grows until the incubation process is complete. Egg incubation can obviously occur naturally, when the hen sits on the eggs until 21 days have passed and the chicks begin to hatch. Alternatively, it can be done through artificial incubation, which uses equipment that simulates the necessary conditions: 37.8°C and a relative humidity of 50-60%.
