According to the investigation so far, for reasons that are still unknown, he veered off the road to the right, lost control of his vehicle while counter-steering to the left, and subsequently collided with the oncoming 72-year-old driver of a Mazda CX-5, which caused the Mazda to veer to the right onto the grass verge. The 52-year-old Audi driver and the 67-year-old Mazda passenger suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. The 72-year-old Mazda driver was seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital by emergency services. The public prosecutor's office has ordered an expert opinion to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident. The vehicles sustained total damage of approximately €65,000, and the roadway was also damaged by the collision. Both vehicles were recovered by a towing company. The roadway was closed in both directions until approximately 7 p.m. while the accident was investigated, recovered, and cleaned up. The Ludwigsburg and Aalen police headquarters were deployed with several patrol cars. Several emergency medical services and fire department vehicles, a rescue helicopter, and the road maintenance department were also deployed with heavy personnel.
