It used to be something only criminals, sailors, and bikers had. Now, somehow, everyone has one – tattoos. Almost one in five adults in Germany now has a tattoo. Some people probably wonder what it's really like to put ink under someone's skin that lasts forever. To answer that question, we invited tattoo artist Sara Kaltenhäuser. Sara, who pierced herself with a sewing needle at the age of 14, has now been working as a tattoo artist for seven years. On Klo, she talks to Eda Vendetta about why she chose this profession, how to become a tattoo artist, and where the ever-increasing popularity of tattoos comes from. You should be absolutely sure who you're getting your tattoo from. Trust is essential, and there are different tattoo styles. 2. The day before your tattoo, you should not consume alcohol, drugs, or blood-thinning medication. Show up fit and healthy! 3. Arrive well-rested, as relaxed as possible, and without any time pressure. You should have eaten and drunk enough beforehand. 4. Always make clear agreements about the tattoo. Where the tattoo will be, what kind of tattoo you want, how big should it be, etc. 5.
