A short comparison of Cape Breton Step Dance and Irish Dance
Highland Echoes Dancers, Sandra Gribbin, and Emanuele Oliveira, demonstrate a brief comparison between Cape Breton Step dance and Irish Dance. Scottish step dancing tradition is most prevalent in the Cape Breton style of step dancing. During the Highland Clearances, many Scottish people settled in the Cape Breton area and much of the Scottish culture was retained due to its relative isolation from the rest of Canada. In the Highland Echoes Show we featured this Scottish tradition and honor those people of the Scottish diaspora in Canada who preserved it so beautifully!
