Looking Back - 2002 - Original T-Mobile Sidekick (Danger Hiptop)
We look back at the very first Sidekick phone. Launched in 2002, the device was over 1-inch thick, had a monochromatic display and some entertaining polyphonic tones. It even had a novelty camera you could plug in to the 3.5mm headphone jack. Although it didn't sell in its millions, the Sidekick has to be one of the most iconic and instantly-recognizable phones ever released. Its unique 180-degree spinning screen covering a fantastic QWERTY keyboard had never really been seen before, and nothing like it has been released since.
