Original:    • Az MD-motorvonatok emlékére   A commemorative video filmed on 4 different railway lines, which is a worthy memorial to the 40+2 pieces, originally six-part (MDa-Aax-Bax-Btax, later MDmot-Ax-Bx-Btx series), lightweight, diesel-hydromechanical MDamot, later MDmot series branch line multiple units designed and manufactured in Budapest between 1968 and 1972 by Ganz-MÁVAG, which replaced steam traction and the Aamot-Bmot-Bcmot-Hargita era and transformed our country and Europe's perspective on the use of traditional locomotive-hauled trains with bidirectional diesel-powered multiple units that solved the change of direction without detours. Hungarian engineers have proven their excellent professional skills: instead of the 20-25 year running time planned by the manufacturer, they served our country's railways for 42 years. In June 2011, the last train was withdrawn from service, unfortunately, since then not only did MDmot 3006 disappear from Debrecen, but also railway line 106 was closed in the autumn of 2025. Only four railcars and one train survived: the factory-painted retro cherry-red 3003 is inoperable in Szentes; - the ONLY functional machine, also factory-painted, cherry red, 3017, serving in the H-MNOS (nostalgia) train, but with a weed-killing and often mismatched, retro paint, composed of blue cars (striped DJV-Győr Ap, Bp), is loaded with adventure trains mainly on the Lajosmizse, Dabasi-Kakucsi-Inárcsi and Bakonyi-Balaton, Szolnok, Salgótarján, Szeged, Szőreg lines; the 3025, in orange paint, but with a broken windshield, awaits an uncertain fate, despite news of its renovation and being towed to a workshop, no progress has been made for years, perhaps it has been cut up a long time ago; and the 3038 is decaying in its dead state next to the already mentioned line 106, at the Pocsaj-Esztár station, as a graffitied sculpture locomotive; the only repainted complete set of 3017 MDa, renovated between 2010-2013, 1 Ax, 1 Bx trailers and 1 Btx control car, is lying in ruins in the Füsti (Railway History Park) in Budapest. In the video, besides my retro cherry red, red star work, the new color-designed MDmot appears, also as my own creation. Yes, this COULD HAVE BEEN the future. A better future, where we preserve value, appreciate and further develop everything we have.
