Harvesting Carrots? Here Is How to Make Them Last 8 Plus Months!

Harvesting carrots and storing them for 8 months without a fridge is possible. This video shows the complete carrot growing and storage system, from sharp sand bed to the sand clamp method. Most gardeners pull their crop and lose half of it within weeks. Here is how I keep mine fresh for 8 months, using a system I have been running for years in my Welsh garden. This video covers everything. From preparing a sharp sand bed and mixing the compost columns, to sowing Sweet Candle carrots two seeds at a time, thinning correctly so you never disturb the root you want to keep, and protecting the crop from carrot fly with insect mesh from day one. Then the harvest in September. Then the exact storage method that kept these carrots in perfect condition from September to May. I also grow parsnips using this exact same method. The variety is Gladiator. If you asked in the comments of my original carrot video whether this system works for parsnips, you are about to get your answer. The storage conditions are simple. Frost-free, cool, and dark. No refrigeration. No specialist equipment. Layered in damp sharp sand in a standard plastic container. That is it. I log everything in GrowTrack from sowing date through to the storage check eight months later.
