Crystal Clear in Efstratios, boatbuilding again...

As we head out of the Dardanelles we sail straight into a near gale, 22:00 a dark night and a raging Aegean sea. We head for Limnos averaging 9 to 10 knots, surfing down steep waves reaching 15 knots, a wild and wet ride down wind. Limnos to the north at 4 am, 60 miles went by in 6 hours... A dark bay lays upwind, 3rd reef, I try to sail in but we can barely head up, I start the engine, it too is over powered... Suddenly my helmsman chair blows off deck and rapidly flies downwind disapearing into the night, We're tired, we head below for a rest. We've been sailing for 30 hours, we covered 200 miles, now laying adrift... The south side of Limnos offers calmer water, we rest till 07:00 By now it seems like the near gale is getting nearer... Conditions are bad as we are drifting towards Efstratios... I decide to raise 1 panel and head for shelter, we come in and tie up. Now boat building again, an old pallet becomes a new chair, Balkan style... After this a few other things an soon enough again it will be Green on Red, Sea ahead... Keep Shunting Balkan Shipyards B
