Day 7 – Chapter 3: After cruising through the island's narrow entrance, famously known as Neptune's Bellows, we arrived at Whalers Bay—a place rich in both natural beauty and polar history. Once home to one of the world's busiest whaling stations and later a scientific research base, the bay still preserves abandoned buildings, rusting machinery, and historic remnants that tell the story of Antarctica's early explorers and whalers. 🏚️🌊✨ Walking across the island's striking black volcanic sand, surrounded by snow-covered mountains and steaming geothermal landscapes, felt unlike anything we had experienced before. The dramatic contrast between volcanic terrain and Antarctica's icy wilderness makes Deception Island one of the most unique destinations on the continent. 🌋🧊🏔️✨ As we explored the coastline, we witnessed incredible panoramic views, fascinating volcanic formations, and thriving Antarctic wildlife, all while standing inside the flooded crater of an active volcano.
