Gardening for Insects and the Planet with Dave Goulson
Insects are vital, fascinating, weird, and wonderful. They are food pollinators, recyclers, pest controllers, and much more, so we should be deeply concerned that many are in rapid decline. In this illustrated talk, author and naturalist, Dave Goulson, will briefly explain the many causes of insect decline, and then explore the potential solutions to this crisis. You will discover how we can all help insects by turning our gardens and urban greenspaces into oases for life, inviting nature in to live in our cities. Dave Goulson founded the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and is a popular author of books on saving our planet from the disasters of biodiversity depletion and on gardening, insects, and bees. He is a Professor of Biology at the University of Sussex, specializing in the ecology and conservation of insects, particularly bumblebees. His latest book, Silent Earth: Averting the Insect Apocalypse, has been incredibly well recieved and forms the basis of this evening's talk. Presented by Planet Action Street Arts and NHSN. -------------------------------------- Thank you for watching! Our next in-person talk is on Monday 31 October.
