Hello, How are you? An isolated footing is a shallow or direct foundation, commonly used in Brazil because it can handle point or concentrated loads. Furthermore, isolated footings are often used in medium or large-scale house designs, as they exclusively support the load from a single column. The foundation design must include the positioning of the footings, respecting the axes. Don't forget to include the footing's name, scale, and dimensions. The footing can be pre-dimensioned using proportions, where the height should be at least 30% of the longest side. Another point is that the footing doesn't always need to be pyramid-shaped; the reason for adopting a pyramid shape is because of the bending moment, which increases from the edge of the footing towards the face of the column. The shape of the footing depends on the geometry of the column; for example, if you have a square column, this indicates the shape of the footing to adopt. Regarding the foundation slope, a 1:3 ratio can be used. In episode 5, we discussed reinforcement, steel reinforcement bars, ballast, stirrups, and other elements.
