Changzhou in the Evening 《晚过常州》F. ADEBIYI

Yang Wanli, a famous poet of the Southern Song Dynasty, once lived in Changzhou (a city I currently live in) for two years. This poem reflects his emotions upon revisiting the city a decade later, lamenting the passage of time. 《晚过常州》·杨万里 [南宋] 常州曾作两年住，一别重来十年许。 岸头杨柳记得无，总是行春系船处。 自笑恍如丁令威，老怀成喜亦成悲。 人民城郭依然是，只有向来须鬓非。 《过常州府城》·爱新觉罗·弘历 [清] 毗陵驿口驻飞舻，城郭周巡六辔纡。 老幼欢欣称就日，江山风物已勾吴。 F.
