Bonalu involves the worship of Mother Goddess in regional forms like Muthyalamma, Mysamma, Pochamma, Yellamma, Peddhamma, Dokkalamma, Ankalamma, Poleramma, Maremma, Nookalamma. Bonalu is traditionally celebrated as an annual festival of Telangana Twin Cities Hyderabad, Secunderabad and other parts of Telangana. Bonalu means Bhojanam or the feast offered to mother Goddess. Women prepare rice with turmeric, and leafy vegetables in new earthen pots. They adorn the pot with neem leaves, turmeric, vermelion and lit a lamp on the top of the pot. Women carry these pots on their heads and make an offering of Bonam to mother Goddes along with Saree, bangles, turmeric and vermilion.
