Brand New 18 year old Makita HR4011C Hammer FAULTY. What's the problem and can we fix it?

Just bought this Old stock Makita HR4011C Rotary hammer for spare parts or repair, for dirt cheap online. Was told it was a non runner so only good for parts or repair. Who better to buy it than a makita repair agent. A cheap and easy fix, and now I have a new Makita hammer for next to nothing.
