The IRA Before the Troubles | Rare 1960s Footage of Paramilitary Training in Ireland (1965)
ITN reports on recent IRA demonstrations following the arrest of 10 men charged with unlawful gathering near Abbeyleix, County Laois, where Princess Margaret was staying. Broadcast in January 1965, the report captures public and political reactions during a period when the Irish Republican Army was largely inactive but remained under close surveillance. Reporter Sandy Gall managed to interview several IRA members as they conducted training exercises. 'ITN Reports' was a series of documentary reports from around the world, produced by ITN News and broadcast on ITV from November 1964 - December 1965. #ira #irishrepublicanarmy #irishindependence #britain #princessmargaret To license the footage featured in this clip, follow the link below: https://www.gettyimages.co.uk/search/...
