Dikritik The Economist, Prabowo Naik Kelas! Kok Bisa?

When The Economist criticizes a leader, is it always a bad thing? In this video, I discuss The Economist's focus on President Prabowo Subianto, and why criticism from the global media can actually be read as a sign that Indonesia is increasingly entering the global strategic conversation. Trump has been criticized. Xi Jinping has been criticized. Narendra Modi, Emmanuel Macron, Lawrence Wong, and Anwar Ibrahim have also been heavily scrutinized by The Economist. This means that when Indonesia and its leaders begin to be discussed seriously by the international media, we are on a bigger stage. Of course, criticism must be read clearly. There's no need to be defensive, but there's no need to be condescending either. Great nations will always be watched. Great leaders will always be tested. And a confident nation must be able to read criticism as a matter of reflection, not just an attack.
