How to assemble and test Strain Gauges, a step-by-step guide

In this video we demonstrate how to fit a strain gauge using the Strain Gauge Kit (E19) from TecQuipment. Our Strain Gauge Technician Andi will be explaining how to put a strain gauge down, test the resistance and finish the strain gauge so it is ready to be placed onto the desired equipment or apparatus. Strain gauges are small sheets of flexible, electrically-insulating backing material that hold thin sheets of metal foil cut into a pattern. Engineers glue them to the surface of the material under test. As the surface of the material deforms (stretches or contracts), so does the strain gauge. Because most strain gauges are very thin, usually a few microns, they do not affect the test measurement.
