Most people do not hate you because you attacked them. Sometimes they hate you because your presence reveals something they are trying not to see. Jung believed the shadow contains the parts of ourselves we refuse to accept. And when people cannot face their own shadow, they often project it onto someone else. But this cuts both ways. Not everyone who reacts badly to you is projecting. Sometimes the mirror is also pointing back at you. So ask yourself: Are they hostile because you see clearly?
