Edelweissweg in Zermatt, Switzerland

The Edelweissweg is a very popular trail around Zermatt, and it''s popular for good reason too! This is one of the most beautiful trails I've ever seen. Every step of the 20km loop is a picture-perfect view worthy of any postcard being sold down in the valley. Due to the trail's popularity, it's also very well maintained - there's no dangerous or technical terrain to be aware of, and the trail itself is very walkable, and even runnable. When I last did the loop, in 2024, my visit coincided with the famous Matterhorn Ultraks Skyrace. Because of the race taking place at the same time, there were some detours I had to take from the "classic" route, but it didn't detract from the experience in the slightest. Quite the opposite actually - it was a great opportunity to see another side of a very familiar trail. At the start of the video, I do a quick overview of the route options - feel free to use either or make your own entirely!
