Why good intentions are irrelevant
Good intentions are not a moral free pass. We tell ourselves flattering stories about why we do what we do. In relationships, in politics, in everyday choices. But reality doesn't grade on effort. It grades on results. In this episode, I work through the gap between what an intention feels like and what it actually does in the world — from toxic relationship dynamics to feminist organisations that pick and choose their victims, from five-star review inflation to the full death tolls of socialist ideology, GMOs, nuclear energy, and capitalism's actual track record on poverty. The argument is simple and cuts in both directions: bad outcomes don't get pardoned by good intentions. And good outcomes don't get dismissed because you dislike the people producing them. 00:00 The relationship you need vs. the one in front of you 01:00 The gap this episode is about 01:30 When "women's rights" becomes politically selective 03:00 The five-star review problem 04:00 Socialism, communism, and the conceptual flaw 07:00 The rule cuts both ways 08:00 GMOs and what the evidence actually shows 09:00 Sri Lanka's fertilizer ban and nuclear energy 11:00 Capitalism's track record 12:30 Germany divided: the controlled experiment 13:30 North vs. South Korea: 55 times, not 55% 14:00 Where the moral conversation actually ends
