Which Ultimate Rules should be Changed in 2025

Felix runs through the WFDF rules changes he'd most like to see for 2025–2029, covering stall count, pick calls, simultaneous catches, and more — with a few confirmed changes already locked in. Stall count: Reducing from 10 to 8 or 9 would speed up play and make the most decisive moments in a game more exciting rather than defensive errors. The WUL already demonstrates what a lower-stall game looks like in practice. Pick calls from poaching defenders: If a defender is blocked by a poaching teammate, they shouldn't be able to call pick to recover position — the cost of the defensive decision should sit with the defense. Indirect fouls: A two-second delay window (already used in pick calls) would better reflect how the game is actually played and discourage push-offs on moving cuts. Simultaneous catches: The current rule preferentially treats offense. Felix proposes reverting to "disc goes back" — removing the incentive to argue same-time catches when one player clearly got there first. Plus: Reddit suggestions on dangerous play clarity, endzone fouls, double-team rules, rules consolidation, and the already-confirmed reduction to 2 timeouts per game. 00:00 Intro 00:28 Reduce the stall count 02:23 Remove pick calls caused by poaching defenders 05:08 Allow a 2-second buffer to call indirect fouls 06:37 Same-time catches should go back to thrower 08:35 Suggestions from Reddit – clarity on dangerous play calls 09:33 Treat receiving fouls in the end zone as a goal 09:47 Collapse "disc space", "straddle", and "wrapping" into one call 10:03 Align with USAU on pick continuation and pull rules 10:34 Toughen up the double-team rules – return disc to thrower upon turnovers 11:18 Reduce/reorganise/simplify rules – combine sections into 'making and resolving calls' 11:46 CONFIRMED CHANGE – Timeouts reduced to 2 per game 12:12 Remove "must wear same hats" rule Vote on Felix's suggestions: https://forms.gle/oEnExVX7npu8fixRA WFDF Rules Forum: https://rules.wfdf.sport/forums/forum...
