Gallagher's First Special | An Uncensored Evening (1980)

Gallagher's first special An Uncensored Evening, premiering in 1980, famously became the first "uncensored" stand-up comedy special ever to air on cable television. Directed by Mike Nesmith of The Monkees under the pseudonym Abel Dare, the special is best known for laying the foundation of his prop-heavy observational style and debuting his signature "Sledge-O-Matic" bit, where he parodied food slicer commercials by smashing a watermelon with a large wooden mallet.
