I Caught My Biggest Papio Yet! |Hawaii Fishing Adventures!

Howzzit everyone, it's Kaibirrrd, back again with another action-packed fishing episode! On this day, this was a last minute trip as i wasn't expecting to go fishing when my Brother, Elliot gave me a call. Got to the spot about an hour or two before sunset, giving us a small window to fish. Decided to throw my heavier rod out with a whole piece of squid, hoping for any sort of luck! Elliot and I caught a lot of small Papio and some O'io, also known as Bonefish. Action is action, wether the fish are small or not! Toward the ending of our fishing session, we decided that it was time to pack things up when a big Papio finally decided to strike the big rod! The last minute strikes that catch you off guard! Here in Hawaii, we call juvinille Trivially, Papio and the adults, Ulua. You may also find some fishermen using heavier rods, in which are known as "Ulua Rods" and are often paired with conventional reels. Fighting this fish only took about 4 minutes, bought it fought extremley hard. It truly was an expereince to finally reel in a Papio / Trevally this size alongside my Brother. Though i really wanted to release this fish, it is also a tradition here in Hawaii to "Gyotaku", or paint your prized catches. Don't worry! The fish did not go to waste as i quickly went home to clean and store the meat. Being that this was my first fish of this size, i really wanted to capture this moment and share the experience with the rest of my family!
