Our third visit to the Royal Albert Hall with representatives from 27 Cornish choirs, singing to a standard probably not achieved before with massed male voice choirs. Under the musical direction of Edward Goldsmith, one of Cornwall's most respected and experienced conductors, accompanied by David Briggs, formerly of Truro Cathedral and now of Gloucester Cathedral on the organ, and Clive Ellison on the piano, this performance must rank as one of the finest Male Voice concerts for massed voices produced to date. This recording of "highlights" from this memorable concert features all the items sung by the massed choir and the three prize-winning compositions from the 1994 Composers Competition performed by a small ensemble under the direction of Harold Miller. Two pieces from Suzanne Manuell's contribution are included, accompanied by Anthony Seddon. More of Suzanne's repertoire can be heard on her recently released album available on CD and cassette from PM Sound. Thanks to all involved in the production of this concert but especially to those singers from Cornish choirs who gave freely of their time, talents and expenses in the support of the Cornish charities who will benefit from the marvellous response.
