The visit, which took place from November 11 to 13 in Chengdu and Beijing, aimed to strengthen political, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries and commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Spain-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. During the visit, King Felipe and Queen Letizia met with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and other Chinese officials, resulting in the signing of nine bilateral agreements. The agenda included the inauguration of the Spain-China Business Forum in Chengdu, visits to technology and automotive facilities, and meetings with business leaders to promote economic cooperation. China is Spain's leading trading partner in Asia and its fourth largest globally, with bilateral trade reaching €53 billion in 2024. In the cultural sphere, Queen Letizia presided over a tribute to the poet Antonio Machado in Chengdu and visited Beijing Foreign Studies University, where she met with Spanish students. The King and Queen also attended the debut of the Royal Theatre Orchestra at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in China, further strengthening artistic collaboration between the two countries. The trip concluded with a reception for the Spanish community residing in China, where the King emphasized the shared commitment to continue building a relationship based on dialogue, mutual respect, and broad and ambitious cooperation.
