CAP Tip: Becker 517 / Rhotheta RT-600 Introduction

Basic overview of the DF-517 version of the Rhotheta RT-600 digital Direction Finder for Civil Air Patrol and search and rescue (SAR) operations. This is the version typically found in older CAP aircraft. The newer RT-600 variant installed in aircraft after about 2009 differs slightly in user interface and operating procedures. The newer version is also able to receive a much larger number of 406 MHz frequencies (19 instead of 2 on the 517)
