Buying this legendary yard find (GC8 STI Type R)
I found myself yet another project Subaru...meet my 1998 STI Type R. The seller had it listed as a 1996 Subaru WRX with an EJ257 swap, however the WRX never came in a 2 door, and Japan (this car is RHD) never had an NA 2 door, meaning the only car this could be is a STI Type R. I immediately got excited because the Type R comes with the extremely rare close ratio (4.44) 5 speed with DCCD and a rear R180 mechanical LSD. The only other car that got this transmission setup was the STI Type RA, the 4 door sister car to the Type R. Come along as I negotiate myself a deal on my new project, the original asking price was $14,000 CAD ($10K USD at the time of writing). What would you like to see next with the Type R? Let me know in the comments!
