Ex-Girlfriend: A Short Story (Dynamic Girl Group)

Introducing one of the best female groups of all time in my opinion: Ex Girlfriend! Monica Ex, Stacy Ex, Julia Ex & Tisha Ex!! 4 dynamic true singing harmonizing high stepping foot working dancing divas. When our Full Force Brother B-Fine wanted to bring a girl group into our Full Force Family....I visited my friend Yvette Noel Shure who was editor of Black Beat Magazine at the time to keep a look out for us. Yvette called me the following week & presented a press kit of a girl group to me by the name of Petite. I took that press kit to Bee & we watched the video of their song "So Fine" which was on an independent label & the song was dedicated to New Edition. Bee got real excited viewing the press kit & we thought the possibilities would be great. We met the talented girls of Petite & their original line up was Tisha Hunter, Monica Boyd, Julia Robertson & Kim Davis. Their beloved Co-Managers was the late Toni Greene & The late Priscilla Chapman who we worked greatly together with. Our brother Bee changed their name to Ex Girlfriend. Kim Davis was later replaced by the talented Stacy Francis & the search for a record deal ensued. Props & love still to Kim Davis who has been singing & touring with the legendary Nile Rodgers for years. Eventually we got the girls a record deal with Warner Brothers on our Forceful Reprise imprint. Benny Medina who was VP of A&R at the time did the deal with us. Bee came up with the whole Ex-Girlfriend idea, direction and concept when we wrote & produced their successful debut Top 40 album: "X Marks The Spot" which yielded the top 5 R&B Hit: "Why Cant You Come Home" & 2nd single: "You (You're The One For Me)" which went top 40 peaking at #35 with that video being directed by first time director: Antoine Fuqua (Training Day with Denzel Washington & Emancipation with Will Smith) Music Video:    • Ex-Girlfriend You (You're The One For Me)   Back then we had ALL went through growing pains & lessons learned in this crazy music business with ups downs & turnarounds but the positives outweighs any negatives with acknowledged success & some great memories in such a short turn in the sun. Life is so short as we appreciate each other no matter what. I will always feel that Ex Girlfriend are one of the best talented female groups ever to come through this entertainment industry.
