Judy Moore. Gendlin, Rogers, Spirituality and the Source of Life

Ομιλίες στο Βουνό 2024 Ζωή Πέμπτη 29 Αυγούστου 2024 –Κυριακή 1 Σεπτεμβρίου 2024 Βυζίτσα Πηλίου Οι Ομιλίες στο Βουνό αποτελούν μία ζωντανή συνάντηση που λαμβάνει χώρα κάθε χρόνο στη Βυζίτσα Πηλίου, με επίκεντρο τη φιλοσοφία και την ψυχαναλυτική θεωρία. Φέτος, ο κεντρικός διάλογος των Ομιλιών στο Βουνό αντλεί τη θεματογραφία του από την έννοια της Ζωής. Οι ομιλίες και οι εκδηλώσεις που έλαβαν χώρα περιστρέφονται γύρω από τη Ζωή και αφορούν έννοιες όπως ο θάνατος, η αλληλεπίδραση με τους άλλους, το βίωμα, το σώμα και η επιθυμία. Στα πλαίσια των Ομιλιών στο Βουνό 2024, σας παρουσιάζουμε την εισήγηση της Judy Moore, με τίτλο «Gendlin, Rogers, Spirituality and the Source of Life». Περίληψη: ‘…we evolve out of our own consciousness’ (Oscar Wilde: De Profundis, 1897) Carl Rogers and Eugene Gendlin were collaborators in the development of Client-Centred Therapy in the mid-twentieth century. They came to understand that experiencing, ‘an inward sensitivity to the living body’, was a key factor in therapeutic change. Their own regard for the positivist tradition of psychotherapy research led to a split between what Rogers describes as ‘the rigorous objectivity of myself as scientist and the almost mystical subjectivity of myself as therapist’ (1961, p.200). While the therapies that they are associated with have developed on secular lines, a lifetime spent developing ‘inward sensitivity to the living body’ led both men to an awareness of ‘something more’, of there being a ‘spiritual’ foundation to human life. Yet this understanding– at the heart of all religious traditions, found everywhere in great literature, art and music– has not yet found a respected place in the world of psychotherapy.
