She's Alive!...After 12 Years in a Shed...

Welcome back to the Yamaha YZF600R Thundercat project! After plenty of investigation, head-scratching, and trial and error, I've finally found the culprit that was stopping fuel reaching the carbs. In this episode I fit a replacement fuel tap and quickly discover that the original tap was completely blocked. With the new tap installed, fuel can finally flow from the tank as intended, and for the first time since this project began, the bike runs with the fuel tank fitted! This 1996 Yamaha Thundercat had been sitting neglected in a shed for around 12 years, and bringing it back to life has been a real learning curve. Along the way I've cleaned components, serviced key items, tracked down faults, and slowly worked through the challenges that come with recommissioning a classic sports bike that's been dormant for over a decade. There are still a few jobs I'd recommend the owner carries out before putting the bike back on the road, including tyres, brakes, coolant, and a thorough check-over, but as far as getting it running again goes, my work here is done. I'm genuinely chuffed to see this old Yamaha back to life, and I hope you've enjoyed following the journey as much as I've enjoyed working on it. If you've enjoyed the series, don't forget to like, subscribe, and let me know in the comments what classic bike you'd like to see rescued next! #Yamaha #Thundercat #YZF600R #MotorcycleRestoration #BarnFind #ProjectBike #SportsBike #MotorcycleRepair #ClassicMotorcycle #ADBikeLife #UnderTheHelmet
