It felt like we were in one of the best small towns in America. With the beautiful Jackson County North Carolina Courthouse overlooking the town, great restaurants and breweries, along with outstanding outdoor activities in the area, it was no wonder this small town became one of our favorites. Our host for the visit was actually the Chief of Police for the town and all we can say is southern hospitality at its very best! We had such a great time. We stayed in a wonderful mountain cabin near town and got to experience a fun rafting trip on the Tuckasegee River with the Dillsboro River Company. The 5.5 mile trip was relaxing and scenic, and even took us by the train wreck scene from the hit 1993 movie, The Fugitive. If you find yourself in the North Carolina mountains, be sure to give Sylva some time and enjoy all this beautiful small town has to offer. You won’t regret it.
