Schools are meant to be places of safety and learning: Gwarube
The Eastern Cape Education Department is investigating allegations of sexual abuse against JS Skenjana Senior Secondary School educators in Dutywa, Eastern Cape. Allegations surfaced over the weekend through a viral video by a former pupil at the school who alleged that many girls had fallen pregnant by their male teachers. This is not the first time a school in Dutywa has been embroiled in sexual abuse allegations. In 2023, Bonkolo Senior Secondary School was also in the news amid allegations of teachers sleeping with and impregnating learners. For more on this, we are now joined by the Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube. For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
