(Galatians 5:25) A Pentecost Checkup - Questions about Walking in the Holy Spirit 1. The Holy Spirit bestows faith in Jesus Christ No one can call Jesus Lord except by the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:3) 2. The Holy Spirit assures Christians of their sonship with God The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. (Romans 8:16) 3. The Holy Spirit bestows various gifts upon the followers of Jesus. To each one the Spirit manifests himself for the common good. To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom; to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gift of healing by the one Spirit; to another the power to perform miracles; to another prophecy; to another the ability to distinguish between spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues. (1 Corinthians 12:7-10) 4. The Holy Spirit alone constitutes the true Church as the Body of Christ. For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (1 Corinthians 12:13-14) 5. The Holy Spirit Comforts Christians But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. (John 14:26) 6. The Holy Spirit Guides Christians on the Right Path When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. (John 16:13) 7. The Holy Spirit Bestows Love But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22) 8. The Holy Spirit is not mocked. "Whoever speaks against the Son of Man (that is, Jesus!) will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, neither in this age nor in the age to come."
