Beltane Border Morris "Cross Tree" at White Thorn Inn, Shaugh Prior, Devon, 19 May 2022
An original dance conceived by Beltane Border Morris inspired by a tree that once stood in Moretonhampstead on Dartmoor. The tree was pollarded and a giant wood platform built on it in the early 1800s. There was enough space for 12 to dance on this platform along with a band and audience. Regular events where held in the tree and the dance seeks to revive the atmosphere that might have been on that tree. Two sets of 12 dancers perform the dance. This video was winner of the Tradfolk Readers Favourite Morris Performance of the Year in 2022 (https://tradfolk.co/performance/morri...)
