North Holland is a beautiful province, but there are plenty of places you could call beautiful in their ugliness. We call it "spit-beautiful." Mark van Wonderen is a great admirer of this, and every week he writes a column for NH Radio about one of these places. The Amsterdam neighborhood of Geuzenveld-Slotermeer is a must-see, of course. The post-war architecture, Hotel Slotania, the dilapidated apartment buildings: all magnificent!
