We are doing UX backwards! The designer behind the WDS has the fix! | The BMad Code Podcast
In this debut episode of The BMad Code Podcast, I sit down with Marten Angner, a 26-year UX veteran, digital product manager, and the creator of the Whiteport Design Studio (WDS), the first official community module in the BMad Method ecosystem. Marten founded Whiteport Studio in Stockholm in 2003 and has personally taught over 2,500 people how to sketch interfaces by hand. When AI hit, he went through the same panic most designers did. He tried the "vibe coding" tools, hated them, and went looking for something built for serious professionals. That search led him to BMad, and eventually to building the WDS. We talk about why most designers (and developers) are doing UX backwards, why the trigger map is the most valuable hour you will spend on a project, and why "specifications are the new code" is the shift every serious builder needs to make. If you have ever felt like AI was making you faster but dumber, this one is for you. Topics covered: Why pixel-first design is the wrong starting point for AI-era software The trigger map: business goals, target groups, driving forces (positive and negative) Loss aversion, FOMO, and why fear motivates users more than benefit Scenarios, selective ignorance, and the shortest path from natural starting point to value Lo-fi wireframes as a tool for failing with grace Why Figma is now an "agent training tool," not a design destination Naming every component so AI agents can actually work with your design Specifications as the new code, and why AI agents love what developers throw away The future role of designers as strategists and user researchers, not pixel pushers How WDS plugs into the BMad Method to take you from product brief to working code ================================================================ LINKS ================================================================ The BMad Code: Website: https://bmadcode.com YouTube: / @bmadcode Discord (join the community): / discord X / Twitter: https://x.com/BMadCode Facebook: / @bmadcode Support the show / Buy Me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/bmad BMad Method (open source): BMad Method GitHub: https://github.com/bmad-code-org/BMAD...
