How to shoot a stunning beauty photo with just a v-flat and natural light

👉 You may find this surprising but for nearly every portrait or model portfolio shoot I do, I start with a simple window lit image. It’s clean, timeless, and emotive. Before I throw in strobes, or eye-catching styling, or gels or anything else ‘extra’, I begin with elegant basics. All I'm using here is window light and a backdrop (in this case a v-flat but you can use anything!). I'm using my 85mm 1.2 which I really loved for this shoot and the Canon R5 which helped me visualize the end result by switching to monochromatic. I’ve been doing this lighting setup for years with dozens and dozens (even hundreds) of faces, and I never get tired of this look. What do you think? Timeless? Boring? Your new fav?
