Frets w/ Pritesh Walia - Episode 3
In this episode of Frets we welcome the incredibly talented jazz guitarist/composer/educator Pritesh Walia. We sit down for a particularly interesting chat, touching on Manouche jazz, his discovery of Western music as a teen in India, his unique “R753” system for solo guitar playing, his thoughts on academia, based on his experiences at Musician’s Institute, Berklee, and New England Conservatory, and more. Pritesh has released several albums as a leader, and will be releasing a large ensemble project soon featuring multiple jazz luminaries. He has been featured in publications such as Downbeat, Jazziz, and Jazz Guitar Today, and regularly goes viral on social media for his skills, insightful lessons, and “hot takes” on the state of the musician community today. Welcome back to Frets, we hope you enjoy the hang.
