What Do You Want From Me? by Monaco - guitar tutorial
Monaco, a musical project formed in the late 1990s, is most notably associated with their hit song 'What Do You Want From Me?' The band itself was a collaboration between New Order's bassist, Peter Hook, and guitarist and musician extraordinaire, David Potts. 'What Do You Want From Me?' was released in 1997 as a single from their debut and only album, 'Music for Pleasure'. If you like this one, please check out their more recent collaborations, such as The Light. The chords to this terrific tune are: Dm, Am, F, Fmaj7, C and G. I have it on very good authority (cough, the band's guitarist, songwriter and producer!) that the chords for the verses are actually played at the twelfth and seventh frets. Please remember this if you are playing the song live. To date, I have yet to see a cover version played correctly and no tutorial even mentions these chord voicings either. Again, thank you to Mr David Potts for his insight! The song is characterized by its infectious blend of rock and electronic elements, featuring Hook's distinctive basslines and charismatic vocals. With a catchy chorus and pulsating rhythm, 'What Do You Want From Me?' captures the energy and eclecticism of the late '90s music scene. The lyrics convey a sense of introspection and yearning, exploring themes of desire and communication in relationships. Monaco's overall sound, showcased in this single, demonstrated a departure from the typical style associated with New Order. The band embraced a more guitar-driven and upbeat approach, incorporating elements of alternative rock and dance-pop. Despite the success of 'What Do You Want From Me?' and its positive critical reception, Monaco's tenure was relatively short-lived, and they disbanded after the release of their debut album. In retrospect, 'What Do You Want From Me?' serves as a snapshot of Monaco's brief yet impactful foray into the music scene, reflecting the dynamic shifts and experimentation prevalent in the late '90s alternative and electronic music landscape. It is a great tune - please enjoy playing it! #guitar #guitartutorial #guitarlesson #guitarlessons #monaco #GuitarLessons #LearnGuitar #GuitarRiffs #GuitarChords #GuitarTechniques #GuitarScales #GuitarPractice #GuitarTips #GuitarLesson #GuitarSongs #GuitarPlayers #GuitarLicks #peterhook #monacoguitartutorial #davidpotts #whatdoyouwantfrommeguitartutorial #GuitarTutorials #GuitarForBeginners
